Located on the Delmar Divide this historic congregation is pastored by a black pastor and a white pastor seeking to enjoy the reconciliation that is profoundly possible in Jesus Christ. Grace & Peace has long had a connection to L'Abri and this is reflected in the church's high regard for the Arts, the Academy, the skeptic, and the disgruntled. The church also has a thriving mercy ministry - an expression of the love of Christ . The Church hosts homeless women in winter months in their Shelter Ministry and helps to construct transitional housing in the community through a non-profit organization that has grown out of the congregation's service. I have been serving on the Global Outreach Committee, the Adullam ministry to marginalized men in our community, write liturgy, lead the Sunday worship service, and preach:
This is the church that I attended while studying at Furman University when Redeemer was still a young church plant. This was also our sending church when Carolyn and I served in London, UK. The church community is diverse socio-economically with some farming families, educators, university professors, and affluent residents of Paris Mountain. I worked as the only full-time staff person during my time at Redeemer alongside a 6-person session, which was divided at the time. This was a valuable experience of leadership and a joy to be able to come and serve during a difficult season in a community I love deeply.
